GENDER PAY GAP 2023-24

Many corporates have already announced U-turns on their DEI and supplier diversity programs since Trump’s election – Meta being the most recent, joining the likes of Amazon and Walmart.

Kerry Hallard, CEO at the Global Sourcing Association commented: “You’ll be seeing no such U-turns across the GSA’s program of work - in fact quite the opposite. In a period of rapid change our focus and efforts remain vital. We will continue our work to hold the industry to account across the social and sustainability agendas. At the end of the day our industry, the technology and business services industry, is a people industry, our people are our greatest asset, and we must look after them to the very highest level. And looking at this Gender Pay Gap report, clearly more work needs to be done to ensure greater diversity at leadership level and greater pay parity throughout our industry.”

So in preparation for the UK government gender pay gap (GPG) reporting in April, we are providing an industry view of the status right now. We have included GPG reporting from 83 companies across technology and business services.

Headlines:

  • Companies included span facilities services through to legal. Gender pay is equitable at the facilities services end but the pay gap in favour of men is greatest at the legal services end
  • Our industry is very slightly behind the UK average with the UK’s median Gender Pay Gap being 13.1% and the technology and business services median Gender Pay Gap being 13.5%.
  • Gender imbalance in the upper ranks is obviously impacting pay parity (only 32% of women hold roles in the upper pay quartile).
  • Our dataset included just four companies where the median gender pay gap skewed in favour of women (Adecco UK, G4S, Foundever Global Services and Kura Financial Services).
  • There were 21 companies – so a quarter of all companies included from our industry - that had a gender pay gap of 20% and above
  • Five companies had a gender pay gap in favour of men of more than 30% (Davies Group; LTI Mindtree Ltd; Genpact UK Ltd; Slaughter and May Services and Luxoft UK).
  • In the past two years’ reports the following 5 companies have made the biggest improvements: Mphasis UK Limited, Sopra Steria Limited, Atos BPS Limited, Infosys Limited, and Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP (RPC)
  • In the past two years’ reports these 5 companies have negatively impacted their GPG: Eversheds Sutherland Legal Services Limited, Kelly Services (UK) Limited, Zensar Technologies (UK) Limited, Hexaware Technologies UK Limited, HCL Technologies UK Limited
