Never has the debate of out-tasking versus outsourcing been greater and this is all thanks to the rapid evolution of the open talent economy. Here at the GSA, we have been saying that open talent is the biggest game changer to impact outsourcing since the advent of offshoring and this really is the case, especially now that huge open talent platforms like Freelancer.com and Distributed are offering access to their talent wrapped up as a complete managed service proposition. This really comes down to the culture and capability of the buy-side organisation and whether they have the appetite and resource to manage more programs directly themselves or prefer to bundle things up to one key partner. Resourcing, skills, flexibility, innovation, cost and control all come into the argument.
